Running a personalised business, I have to plan ahead with Christmas and order cut off times are a lot sooner than if I sold pre-made items. As a result I was looking on one of the Kent Trader forums on Facebook for inspiration for Christmas events and saw an advert for an online market event for handmade items. I’d heard about online events before knew little about how they operated and whether they would be suitable for Two Green Lane. I contacted the organiser, Laura from Love Handmade Design with lots of questions and she came back to me straight away. I really liked the sound of her event so I decided to sign up and become part of the fun.
So how does it work? Laura has set up an event on Facebook and has hand picked some small businesses to join her. It doesn’t cost the business anything to participate, but you have a responsibility to help market the event and create as much awareness as possible. This is best done by sharing the event details throughout Facebook and inviting people to accept the invite and join in. On the event night details of all the products available for sale will be posted within the event invite, many with exclusive offers.
The beauty of an event like this is that you as a buyer can browse many beautiful handmade products and all from the comfort of your own sofa. There is no pressure to buy, you can just simply look at everything that is on offer and the special deals available, and if you would like to buy anything then you comment on the relevant photo and the seller will contact you directly to discuss next steps. It’s such an easy way of shopping!
I have been incredibly impressed with the dedication and organisation that Laura from Love Handmade Design has shown so far. She is posting within our group multiple times a day to keep us motivated and encourage us to share to the event on various pages and groups within Facebook. She wants the event to be a success for all of us and she is not afraid to call out people who are not pulling their weight. This event really is about teamwork.
It is a really exciting event to be part of and I can’t wait to share my products with a whole new audience. I have posted the event on my Two Green Lane Facebook page, but if you haven’t seen the invite yet or you weren’t sure what it was about, hopefully after reading this you’ll realise how much hard work is going in to make it success and it is a perfect way to give you a head start on your Christmas shopping or even just to treat yourself!
I’d really love to see as many of you at the event as possible, so please click here and click on “going” and get ready for a night of fun with some really lovely and beautiful handmade products. If you want to know any more, just ask and I’ll happily talk to you all about it.
